Some weddings are all about grand celebrations, while others are about stripping everything back to what really matters — love, laughter and sharing an unforgettable moment with the people (and paws!) who mean the most.

For Kirsty and Emma, their dream wedding was wonderfully simple. They wanted a relaxed, romantic celebration surrounded by their closest family, their two beloved dogs, Nutty and Bella, and the breathtaking beauty of the North Devon coastline.

And on 2nd September at 3pm, beneath the wide-open coastal skies at Ocean Kave, that dream became a beautiful reality.

Set within 60 acres of private coastal grounds in Westward Ho!, Ocean Kave provided the perfect backdrop for their intimate lesbian elopement wedding — a day filled with heartfelt moments, happy tears, plenty of laughter and, of course, some rather fabulous four-legged guests!

 Two Brides, One Beautiful Love Story

There's something incredibly special about an intimate wedding. Without the pressure of a large guest list or a packed schedule, couples have the freedom to celebrate their love exactly as they wish.

For Kirsty and Emma, that meant keeping their wedding personal, meaningful and wonderfully relaxed.

With the Atlantic Ocean stretching out towards the horizon and their closest loved ones gathered around them, the couple exchanged their vows in a beautiful, heartfelt ceremony.

It was one of those lovely moments when everything just feels right. Two people completely in love, making promises for their future together, surrounded by the people who matter most.

And with the dramatic North Devon coastline providing such a spectacular natural setting, there really was no need for anything more.

Just Kirsty, Emma, their family, their dogs and a whole lot of love.

A Dog-Friendly Elopement Wedding – Because Family Has Four Paws Too!

Of course, no wedding for Kirsty and Emma would have been complete without their two gorgeous dogs, Nutty and Bella!

Having their beloved dogs alongside them made Kirsty and Emma's wedding even more special, and their presence added those wonderfully spontaneous moments that make intimate weddings so memorable especially in the photos.

After all, why should your best friends miss out on the biggest day of your life just because they happen to have four legs?

 Pink Champagne, Cupcake Canapés & Clifftop Romance

Following their beautiful ceremony, the newlyweds stepped outside into the fresh coastal air to celebrate their first moments as a married couple.

With spectacular views across the Atlantic Ocean, Kirsty and Emma raised a glass of pink Champagne, accompanied by delicious cupcake canapés — a wonderfully fun and personal touch that suited their relaxed wedding perfectly.

There was no rushing from one formal tradition to another. Instead, the afternoon unfolded naturally, with time to enjoy their family, soak up the surroundings and simply savour being newly married.

It's one of the things we love most about our Ocean Kave elopement weddings. Every couple can create their own version of the perfect day, whether that involves Champagne on the lawn, a romantic picnic, a sunset BBQ or a little bit of everything!

One of the loveliest parts of Kirsty and Emma's wedding was watching them explore the grounds with their photographer, Hollie Nicole, capturing those precious just-married moments.

And what a setting they had to work with!

From romantic photographs against the rugged North Devon coastline to relaxed moments with Nutty and Bella, their wedding album beautifully captured the happiness and personality of the day.

The couple even enjoyed photographs alongside our resident retired thoroughbred racehorses, adding another wonderfully unique element to their wedding memories.

Imagine windswept clifftop kisses, romantic photographs overlooking the Atlantic, beautiful countryside backdrops and golden evening light spilling across the landscape.

For Kirsty and Emma, the result was a gorgeous collection of natural, joyful images that tell the story of their day exactly as it happened.

A Romantic Sunset BBQ – The Perfect Ending to a Perfect Day

As the afternoon gently turned into evening, the celebrations continued with another of Ocean Kave's wonderfully unique experiences. 

At 7pm, just before sunset, Kirsty, Emma and their guests gathered for a delicious locally sourced BBQ in our charming BBQ Corral.

Nestled within the private grounds, the BBQ Corral is a cosy Scandinavian-style wooden hut, surrounded by the peaceful countryside and our resident retired racehorses.

With the warm glow of the evening sun and the beautiful North Devon landscape all around them, it was the perfect setting for a relaxed wedding supper.

No formal seating plans, no elaborate speeches and no unnecessary fuss — just wonderful food, lovely company and the chance to reflect on a truly special day.  ( hopefully there were so bits left over for Nutty and Bella)

There's something rather magical about ending your wedding day this way, tucked away in your own little corner of the Devon countryside, watching the sun sink towards the Atlantic.

For Kirsty and Emma, it was a beautiful way to round off their intimate coastal celebration.  When we checked in on the couple the next day, they said “We just wanted to thank you again for such a wonderful experience. Our wedding was everything we wanted, and more! 

We truly appreciate everything you did. I’d do it all again in a heartbeat”

We would certainly love to welcome them back for a vow renewal in a few years!
