October 2015

Kathy Murdoch, Managing Director of Ocean Kave & Westward Living, has been announced as a finalist for the title of Best Business of the Year in the Devon Venus Awards 2016.

Dubbed the “Working Women’s Oscars” by Channel 4 and now in its third year in Devon, the Venus Awards were created to recognise the brightest female business stars from across the region.

Launched in May 2015, this year’s county awards have seen fierce competition, with over 500 nominations and 230 applications across the 12 Award categories. Entries have been whittled down, with public and award sponsors selecting the most exceptional candidates over a series of events.

The winners of the Venus Awards will be announced on Friday 27th November 2015 at an Awards Ceremony and Dinner at The Great Hall, University of Exeter.

Sponsor Sandra Sampson of Sampson Hall (Sponsors of Best Business category)

“Our category indeed had 22 exceptional applications, all of which could have reached the semi finals let alone the final three, the calibre this year was outstanding.

It is a show case of how much hidden talent there is in Devon and the exceptional work and businesses that are being run by women. Sampson Hall are always astounded by the array and diversity of businesses and we love the Venus Awards as it allows us the opportunity to meet women we may not have met otherwise, it forges new found friendships, new connections and generates new business amongst the applicants as their businesses are highlighted and promoted in new arenas. It is a win win for all concerned.”
