Emma and Sion intended to have a traditional church wedding in Emma’s home town but thought they would visit Ocean Kave whilst visiting family in Devon in the summer of 2014. It was love at first sight; Emma burst into tears when she entered the Kave, enchanted by the romantic ambience and the potential of the venue to create the wedding of her dreams.
The couple were prepared for the traditional English “summer” and knew that, of all aspects of the day, the weather was the one element that was out of their control. However, on their wedding day, thanks to a last minute change in forecast, they were greeted by clear skies.
Whilst Sion and some of the bridal party prepared for the day in Frankies Cottage, Emma, her bridesmaids and mum got ready in Sadlers. Everyone looked and felt truly beautiful and there was an atmosphere of excitement and anticipation during the wedding preparations.
Emma looked simply stunning in a fitted dress complete with vintage lace and beading detail, while Sion, his best man and ushers looked dapper in three piece suits complete with aquamarine accessories. The bridesmaids also wore aquamarine to complement the theme.
The entrance to the Kave was an emotional one as Emma was walked down the aisle by her father and emotions continued to run high throughout the intimate ceremony. Afterwards the couple and their guests were served Pimm’s, Prosecco and canapés on the lawn whilst guest of all ages enjoyed vintage lawn games.
The funny and poignant speeches were followed by a delicious barbeque; with everything cooked to perfection by Darren. The exquisitely quirky dessert of sweet fish and chips was much admired by all and a perfect way to round up the traditional Devon- inspired wedding.
Emma altered her style for the evening celebrations, removing the detachable neckline from her dress and changing to a striking red lipstick to greet their evening guests. The party continued into the night with fantastic music and much dancing; guests were fortified with bacon and sausage baps and homemade pasties.
The whole day was a perfect celebration of Sion and Emma’s love for each other. The vital role of their friends and family was clearly evident in every detail of the day, with the atmosphere of love, joy and celebration continuing throughout the weekend.
We are so honoured that the couple loved our venue so much and appreciated what a very special place it is and were delighted that they and their guests had such a fantastic day. We wish the lovely couple much happiness in their future together.
