Real Weddings - Happy Days with Steff and Steph at Ocean Kave

The June weather did not disappoint Steff and Steph, who woke to blue skies on their wedding day.

Crystal clear skies and an abundance of flowers added to the air of excited anticipation as guests arrived at the Ocean Kave for Steph and Steff’s wedding. Florist Steff had applied her considerable talents and the approach to the Ocean Kave looked stunning, with jars of wild flowers swinging in the breeze, paper lanterns adorning the fence surrounding the lawn.


The wild flower theme continued throughout; the top table was lined with dozens of individual vintage bottles, each containing a single stem. Boxes of flowers in the guests’ tables, small cactus favours and fun signs and notes to guests contributed to an atmosphere that was at once contemporary and vintage, adding a retro vibe to details that had been planned with precision.


With guests coming from as far afield as Scotland, many who were staying at Westward Living’s luxury cottages took the opportunity to freshen up before making their way down to the Kave.  To accommodate those travelling from across the country, guests were invited to arrive from 2pm, although the wedding was not due to start until 4pm.


Prosecco, bottles of lager and soft drinks were served on the lawn as guests admired the view and awaited the brides’ arrival. First to arrive, Steff, was driven from the bridal suite in a vintage cream camper. She wore a calf-length, full skirted dress with much-coveted shoes (we suspect they were by Irregular Choice). Steph arrived shortly after, opting for a full-length gown, with the all-important shoes perfectly complementing her wife-to-be’s. Bridesmaids were resplendent in green, with stunning handmade jewellery.


Each bride was given away by her father, before a beautiful ceremony in the Kave, after which guests returned to the lawn and Sunset Rooms for drinks before the wedding breakfast.


The couple chose a three-course meal; popular choices included whole baked brie, roast chicken with dauphinoise potatoes and prosecco poached pears with raspberry sorbet.  The cake was a beautiful 4 tier vanilla sponge filled with fresh cream and raspberry and lemon curd cream supplied by Rectory Cottage Cakes.


Steff and Steph’s day was a perfect expression of their individual characters, their love for each other and their commitment to their future together.  It was a privilege to host their wedding and we wish them every happiness in the future.

The couple chose to have two extremely talented photographers in order to capture every precious moment; Gareth and Stuart from GRW Photography.  Just before sunset, the couple were driven by Ocean Kave staff to Westward Ho! Beach for more photos before returning to the Sunset Rooms for dancing and bacon rolls.
