Blog - Wonderful Winter Weddings at Ocean Kave

A candlelit aisle, cosy wood-burning stove and the dramatic scenery of North Devon's rugged coast make Ocean Kave the perfect venue for winter weddings.

January 2017

In recent years, winter weddings have become increasingly popular.

Whether it's the idea of exchanging vows by candlelight or the endless opportunities for unique winter decor, a growing number of couples are opting for winter celebrations.

Here at Ocean Kave, we have hosted some spectacular ceremonies. We find couples are inspired by the unique location of our venue. With panoramic views over the Atlantic and a romantic cliff top setting, The Kave is perfect for winter celebrations. Even in stormy weather, the ocean looks majestic from the comfort of our exclusive reception venue, the Sunset Rooms.

Our experienced team work closely with couples to help them achieve their dream winter weddings. While some are drawn to the simplicity of a candlelit ceremony or the sound of a crackling fire, others take inspiration from winter foliage and colours to weave into their styling. One of our favourite styling details was a projection of woodland scenes onto the walls of the Sunset Rooms. The venue looked truly magical for the couple's ethereal reception. Another couple filled The Kave with hundreds of homemade candles for an unforgettable twilight ceremony.

When it comes to food, winter menus have so much to offer. Opt for a simple yet delicious hog roast with seasonal winter vegetables for a large wedding party, or a succulent rack of lamb with a rosemary minted crust, fondant potatoes and red currant jus. If you're inspired by something the winter season brings, our chefs can work with you to create a bespoke menu for your celebration.

As well as the ambience of a winter ceremony in The Kave, there are many other benefits to a winter wedding. Our selection of luxury cottages offer the perfect accommodation for wedding parties. Guests can snuggle up in front of the wood burner and admire the stormy seas from the comfort of their home from home. Lower tariffs in the winter season and often lower prices from suppliers also make winter weddings a popular choice.

I often hear guests at summer weddings applaud the venue as an incredible summer coastal venue, but they have concerns that it woudl not be as fabulous in the winter, all we can say to that is - come and see a magical Ocean Kave Winter wedding and then judge for yourself,  take a look at these stunning photos of a recent Ocean Kave winter wedding taken by the very talented reportage photographer Gareth Williams of GRW Photography.
