Answers to your questions

We know that this is probably one of the biggest days of your life, the whole team are here to support you and help make it your perfect day with memories to last a life time! Here is a helpful list of questions we are usually asked about what happens on the day.

How do we book a Registrar?

The actual legal ceremony is not included in your package you will need to book your Registrar or Celebrant directly, we can assist you with this and make sure you have all the relevant information.

Can you recommend any good local suppliers?

Yes we can, we will share our little black book of the best of the best with couples once they confirm the date.

When can I access the venue to decorate?

Your styling and decor will be discussed in fine detail with your wedding planner, access depends on whether the venue is being used the day before, it is free we always try to have the venue set up for you to add the finishing touches the day before your wedding.  If its I not possible to have access the day before we will run through exactly where you would like all your beautiful décor to go on your big day so our team can do this for you.

When can my suppliers arrive?

Suppliers can arrive from two hours before the time of your ceremony, this will be discussed in your wedding planning meeting.  The contact number at the venue is 01237 420580, please note our main office is not always open at the weekends so we strongly advise logistics to be confirmed prior to the wedding day.

What time should I ask guests to arrive?

Your guests are welcome to arrive from 45 minutes before your ceremony time, please note access to Ocean Kave for guests will not be possible before this time.

How does the bride get to the ceremony from the bridal suite?

If you are staying on site in of our cottages, we provide two trips from the cottages to the Kave for the bride and her bridal party. We have two fabulous vehicles, which can take up to 6 guests each.  

How do we get back to our bridal suite at the end of the night?

Ocean Kave team will drive the couple back to their suite at the end of the night.  Your presents and cards will also come back to the cottage with you so there are no valuables left at the venue overnight.

What happens to our décor at the end of the night?

All the décor will be discreetly packed up by the wedding team at the end of the evening and taken to your cottage or the office – this will be agreed in advance between you and your planner. All valuables such as cards and gifts will be taken up in the couple’s car with them to their cottage after the wedding.

Can our guests leave their cars at the venue over night?

There is no overnight parking immediately outside the venue. If guests are staying with us in the cottages are apartments we have ample parking on site and will take them to and from the venue.   Any cars are left at the owner’s risk.

Can our guest bring camper vans or tents and stay on site?

Sorry, this is not possible at Ocean Kave and guests are not permitted to sleep in vehicles.

What will happen to any excess catering?

Under environmental health and safety guidelines we must discard surplus catering at the end of the evening. Your planner will discuss the options available for you to take your cake and cheesecake.

What is your refund policy if guests drop out?

Your final catering invoice will be sent 6 weeks prior to the big day, we leave this until 6 weeks before to enable to you to have enough time to check with any guests who have not replied and to advise us of your final numbers.  Once this has been settled no refunds are possible.

How do guests get the venue from the cottages?

The cottages are approximately 600 meters away from the venue via a farm track.  Guests can choose to walk or drive to the venue or we are able to offer a complimentary shuttle service by prior arrangement 

Do you have a card machine for the bar?

We can take card payments with a min £5 spend.

Can I have a religious blessing?

You can have a religious blessing after the Registrar has left the building as it is not legally allowed. it is not possible to a have a religious blessing before the civil ceremony 

What time do you close?

Our venue hire is up to midnight on the day of your wedding.

Can I have a band or DJ?

Yes, you certainly can, live music can play until 11pm and recorded music can play until midnight.

Can I have confetti?

Yes, you can and it looks great in the photos, it will need to be natural petals to fit in with the natural environment.   

Can I have fireworks?

We are in one of the most beautiful and protected areas in the UK in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.  Out of respect to our environment, the coast guard and the racehorses who reside in our grounds and livestock in neighbouring fields, we have chosen not to permit fireworks at Ocean Kave.  Many couples chose to have a fabulous sparkler send off at the end of the night, our team will assist with getting everyone in position and making sure you have a fabulous send off.

Is it possible to stay the night before the wedding so we can get ready in the bridal suite?

Yes, many brides choose this option, ask us about availability and rates.

What happens if I need to cancel my wedding?

As part of our contract with you, we request that couples take out wedding insurance, if you have not options and must cancel your wedding we will work with your insurance company to provide them with the required info.  We have a strictly non-refundable and non-transferable policy on venue hire deposits so please make sure you have all your ducks in order before confirming your booking with us.

Can we get a taxi from Ocean Kave?

We strongly suggest that your guest’s book taxis before the end of the evening. As telephone signal can be limited our team are able to assist you with booking taxis.
