Precisely one year and 1 day after the Royal Wedding, Kate and Ned said “I do” at Ocean Kave. Having witnessed so many weddings it still amazes us that each Ocean Kave wedding is so utterly unique, and this day was no exception.
Following some mixed weather predictions, we were all delighted to awake on the morning of 18thMay to sunshine. The day looked set for a perfect coastal wedding, and we knew that our laid-back bride and groom would have a day that they and their guests would remember forever.
Kate and her bridal party got ready for the day ahead in Royal Celerity; Kate looking exquisite in a vintage-inspired, lace dress, with bridesmaids in lilac. The outfits were completed with bouquets of wildflowers in purple, lilac and yellow; perfect colours to reflect the countryside location of their quintessential springtime wedding. The Sunset Rooms were styled in a rustic, spring theme; hessian runners were topped with lilac tulle and the chairs were tied with lilac sashes to bring all elements of the styling together. Jars of flowers set atop wooden boards completed the look. To complete this picture of perfection, Ned himself looked very dapper in a three-piece suit trimmed with lilac.
Guests started to arrive at the coastal wedding location from 1 p.m. in preparation for the ceremony, which was due to take place at 2 O’clock. Guests took the opportunity to enjoy the view and take pictures before being seated in anticipation of the bride’s arrival. The ceremony was simply beautiful, the couple exchanging heart-felt vows in front of the people that they love and value the most in their lives.
Following the ceremony, the couple and their guests enjoyed canapes, Pimm’s and Beck’s on the lawn. People mingled, chatted and enjoy the sun’s warmth, while the photographer, Dominic Lemoine, took pictures of the happy scene. At 3.45 the party retired to the sunset rooms, where they were treated to a fantastic two-course meal prepared by Ocean Kave’s head chef and his team. The day flowed into the evening with much laughter, music and celebration of the couple’s love for each other, their friends and family.
During the day, the couple took a few minutes to enjoy the incredible location of Ocean Kave with some coastal pictures. This is the first time that Dominic has photographed one of our weddings, and we were delighted by the results, as were Kate and Ned. As Ned is a member of the band The Jacks, the couple’s choice for evening music was a no-brainer and the party danced the night away. Before sneaking out for some incredible sunset photos, the couple cut the cake, a true masterpiece created with love, passion and talent by Ned’s father.
The evening atmosphere was just fantastic and just what a wedding party should be: a laid-back, fun celebration of love and life, filled with laughter, dancing, and delicious food.
As always, it was an honour to host Kate and ned’s dream coastal wedding. What made the day truly perfect was the couple’s laid-back attitude coupled with their attention to detail. The day flowed seamlessly and was enjoyed by everyone, including the staff! Congratulations to Kate and Ned: we wish you a happy, beautiful future together.
