It was an absolute joy to work with Nicky and Nick, they chose a mid-week date in August for their beautiful Ocean Kave summer wedding. We met the couple at a wedding fair the previous year and have worked with them via Skype, phone and email with most of the wedding planning.
Most of the couples wedding guests arrived with us on the Monday ready to enjoy the build-up to the big day, the bride and her entourage could put their personal finishing touches the venue the day before the wedding.
On the big day, the bridal party were collected from Kala’s Cottage bridal suite and driven down to the ceremony. The sun was shining and it was a perfect setting for this magical wedding.
The bride was stunning in an elegant off the shoulder full length wedding dress and flowing veil, the bridesmaids wore a beautify dusky pink floor length dresses, as Nicky followed her entourage and walked down the aisle you could hear the “Wow’s” from the wedding guests.
After the ceremony, the couple’s guests enjoyed a delightful welcome reception of summer Pims cocktails, bottled beer and plenty of Prosecco and a selection of elegant canapes. Much fun was had with the traditional throwing the bouquet ceremony, much to her delighted Nicky’s beautiful summer meadow bouquet was caught by one of her bridesmaids.
Whilst their guests were enjoying a selection of vintage games and catching up on the lawns, the newlyweds took this opportunity to nip off to the beach with their incredible photographer Gareth from GRW Photography to capture some incredible beach wedding photos at Westward Ho! we are so lucky to have this stunning back drop as an option for couples who choose to get married at Ocean Kave.
Once back at Ocean Kave, the couple selected a delicious three course sit down dining experience for their guests focussing on local produce to remind their guests that they were celebrating their wedding breakfast with roast beef from the local fields and fish sourced from Bideford Bay.
To celebrate their Devon wedding Nick and Nicky felt strongly that only the very best local fudge would be suitable for their unique fudge tower wedding cake, with the help from Adrian we were able to point them in the right direction of Roly’s fudge pantry in Barnstaple. The cake was wonderful and a talking point for most of the day.
The skies were perfect on Nick and Nicky’s wedding day which meant they could get plenty of jaw dropping photos from lawns in front of the Kave. The couple and their guests danced the night away in the Sunset Rooms before heading back up to their amazing bridal suite at mid night.
We wish Nicky and Nick a wonderful happy and long life together and look forward to welcoming them back again one day.
