At Ocean Kave, we do our best to make our couples’ wedding dreams come true, no matter how impossible those dreams may seem. So, when Sarah and Michael told us of their vision to include their much-loved Smart car as part of the wedding celebrations, we jumped at the chance to make this happen.
The beauty of an Elopement wedding is that the day can be designed entirely on the couple’s terms. Apart from saying your vows at the legally sanctioned time, everything else is up to creativity and personal choice.
Michael and Sarah were brave enough to book a venue they had never seen at the opposite end of the country during a pandemic. From the very first moment we had contact it was clear this wedding was going to be special. The rise of COVID-19 has caused us to think about what we do to limit risk to our staff and our couples, so many challenges were added along the way. However due to the incredible personal relationship that we had forged with Michael and Sarah they entrusted one of the most significant milestones of their life to us and we loved every second of the experience.
The couple checked into the award-winning Kala’s cottage for a luxurious and romantic 7n stay the night before their wedding. This is a fabulous option if you are considering a wedding and honeymoon in one location. The couple were able to enjoy an afternoon and an evening full of indulgent treats and anticipation! There was an extraordinary air of excitement as the Ocean Kave staff prepared the venue for the couple’s magical moment.
When the clock struck 2pm on Saturday 7th August 2021, Michael and Sarah drove to the Kave in their beloved smart car, this personal touch had made them trail blazers for the bridal entrance! Michael was very dapper in his kilt and Sarah was absolutely stunning in her cherry red bridal gown. The couple locked eyes under the arch and then the magic of their ceremony came to life. It is not always crystal-clear blue skies in August, but the weather just dissipated into the pale as the glow of the couples love for each other shone through.
After a beautiful and personal ceremony, the couple’s photographer Marc Collins whisked them away for photos at the beach. It goes without saying that newly married Mr and Mrs Anderson chose to travel by Smart Car.
After a beautiful photoshoot it was back to the Kave for a very romantic candle lit picnic hamper for two. The picnic hamper was brimming with local fayre and the couple were able to enjoy watching the sunset on their wedding day in total privacy (apart from the odd bunny rabbit who popped up to wish them well!)
Sarah and Michael: thank you for being so wonderfully understanding and open to ideas whilst planning a wedding in this challenging time. We wish you a future filled with happiness, sea and sunshine and smart cars and look forward to welcoming you back again for a romantic anniversary stay.
