Poppy and Chris; Two Become One

Poppy and Chris; Two Become One

Known as “Twosday”, Tuesday 22.02.2022 was noted by most people around the world, but none more so than one very lovely twosome, Poppy and Chris, who tied the knot on this special day.

The couple first got in touch with Ocean Kave in December 2021 with plans of eloping with their two sons, Vinny and Romeo. It was clear that while they had specific plans for their special day, they didn’t want the stress or time traditionally associated with wedding planning, which is why an elopement to the coast was the perfect solution for them.

The family were based in The Gallops, the premium family cottage at the nearby Westward Living at Duckhaven Stud. With plenty of space, and four ensuite bedrooms, The Gallops was an ideal place for a small family to prepare for the upcoming nuptials.

Upon arrival the day before the wedding, the family were greeted by a delicious, locally sourced cream tea. Kathy braved the storms to finally meet the couple in person. After a brief talk about logistics and expectations for the day, we realised that, amid the excitement, flowers had been overlooked. Ever resourceful, Kathy put together a bouquet suitable for the bride and her stunning outfit was complete!

The next day saw the storms start to abate and the sun came out for the happy family. Poppy looked absolutely incredible, rocking bridal chic in a white, long-sleeved bodycon dress accompanied by a pearl headband and converse high tops. Kathy drove the beautiful bride to the Kave, where she awaited the men in her life, all of whom looked very dapper; Chris in a suit and the boys in navy tank tops, all with matching mustard ties and bowties respectively. Poppy’s laid-back approach meant that she was delighted to let Kathy take on the wedding styling and the ambience of the Kave complemented the occasion.

After a very special ceremony, the family celebrated with a bottle of fizz for the grown ups and orange juice for the children before heading to the beach for a photo shoot with the talented Jon Malyn from Indigo Perspective. Jon knows the area like the back of his hand and always knows where to find the best spots for shoots regardless of the weather.

The perfect day was ended with a three-course meal which was freshly prepared by our wonderful chef and delivered to Gallops, where the table had been laid ready for the celebratory feast.

Although contact with Poppy and Chris prior to the big day was minimal, our skills and in-house resources meant that we were able to cater to their every need with ease and could adapt to meet the family’s expectations. One of the best things about small weddings and elopements is that we can do as much or as little as the couple would like. We are very happy to do all the work; all the couple needs to do is turn up and be themselves! We were honoured that Poppy and Chris entrusted one of the most important days to us and we are thrilled that they made such precious memories.

“We have had the best wedding here!

Everything was perfect! The grounds, cave and scenery are absolutely stunning. Such a calm relaxing place to enjoy the day and Kathy makes sure everything runs smoothly and stress free. She’s so helpful and cares so much about making sure the day is perfect for you. Every part of the day was fantastic, the arrival, ceremony, the toast, the photographer (Jon Malyn from Indigo Perspective Photography absolutely brilliant!) the food was so gorgeous after, the accommodation out of this world! Could go on and on!

So so glad we chose Ocean Kave, would 100% recommend!”
