Organising a wedding during a global pandemic is never going to be easy, when Gemma and Liam contacted Ocean Kave at the end of 2020 the country was still in lockdown and the couple took a leap of faith booking a venue, they had never seen for a wedding that they did not know could even go ahead due to Government Guidelines – sometimes these things are meant to happen for a reason.
As always, our team were on hand to support the couple not just on the day itself, in the run up to the event, we planned for several scenarios working within the ever-changing set of Guidelines, fortunately for us Gemma has such a wonderful positive approach, and we were able to get creative and totally bespoke the wedding to the couples’ needs.
The couple enjoyed a relaxing 4n mid-week break in Star Cottage at Westward Living, Star cottage has a family hot tub and south facing views in the private garden which made it a perfect base for soaking up the sun and cooling down on the days leading up to their wedding.
As the day approached, we got down to the fun details, the couple chose an Elopement Wedding but still wanted to include their loved ones in the celebrations so they engaged Simon Tucker from Morph AV to live stream the wedding. The Kave was decorated with a sand-coloured aisle runner and floating candles, it looked utterly magical and romantic, perfect for a summer wedding.
On the day of the wedding the sun was shining, and the sea was calm, it was as perfect as it could possibly be!
Gemma looked simply stunning in an elegant Bardot style wedding dress, her hair was styled into a chic chignon by Connie Gore from Iconic. Groom Liam and his best man Zac were equally dashing in stylish yet classic matching navy suits.
Zach was an exceptionally talented Best Man as he embraced the role and walked his proud Mum Gemma up the aisle to the candle lit version of “Heaven”
Liam’s nerves vanished into thin air the second he turned around and saw his beautiful wife for the first time as she entered the Kave on Zach’s arm.
After a beautiful and very poignant ceremony, the couple exited the Kave to the tune of Tom Walker’s “Just You and I”
Champagne and laughter were flowing whilst the couple’s photographer Marc Collins from MK Collins captured the memories for the couple within the cliff top grounds at Ocean Kave.
The couple took a trip to Westward Ho! beach and enjoyed a private beach shoot with Marc.
Upon their return a bespoke dining experience was hosted in the Sunset Rooms, the couple and thier fabulous Best Man enjoyed a delicious personalised three course menu with a sensational view of the sun setting over the Atlantic Ocean.
We loved hosting Mr and Mrs Derrik at Ocean Kave, the wedding was special for so many magical reasons – and we now know that Ocean Kave was meant to be their venue.
